Legacy on the Water

Built for battle and made for legends, the Cormorant has fished Hawaiian waters with world-record glory. Built in 1989 as a 47’ Buddy Davis Convertible Sportfisher, she was designed for one purpose: chasing giants. And she delivered. Under her original owner, Bruce Matson, the Cormorant etched her name into sportfishing history by landing a #1200.5-pound blue marlin — the largest ever weighed in a tournament at the time — at the 1993 Lahaina Jackpot.

We were honored to take the helm in 2019, bringing her to Kona the following year to continue her legacy in one of the world’s most iconic big game fishing destinations. Since then, she’s undergone a full transformation — enhancing her power, comfort, and capability.

Inside, you’ll find a comfortable salon, a master stateroom, and practical features like a full-size refrigerator and microwave, along with other amenities to make you feel right at home — whether you're fishing for the day or staying overnight.

Every day on the water we are outfitted for Heavy Tackle Big Game Fishing. The Cormorant is outfitted with Shimano 130 rod/reel combos, loaded with Amilan tournament-grade line. We typically troll four lines with hooks, plus two surface teasers and a dredge to maximize your chances at a bite.
